Bird Brains – Update

I mentioned the bad behavior of the gentleman(men) to my Apne Aap contact, Kalam, and he was very disturbed. I then requested that my next class not allow any men. So I was very happy when I arrived yesterday to Babuan, with karate girls crowding around the house’s gate, and there were no men, save the schoolteacher’s father and uncle, and some small boys. I did, however, catch a brief glimpse of the one offending bird brained gentleman later in the day as he peered at our class from a yard away… : )

Hello Belinda! Happy Labor Day!!! After catching up on your blog, it appears no matter where you are, people love you!!! As the chosen one, it seems that you will be talked about for a long time to come as you leave your wake. Seriously though, it seems the 2nd half of your trip has tested your mental and physical boundaries. I say, go to Noodles and Company immediately upon your return for some pasta, and remain secluded for the next week so you can process this incredible experience and sleep my dear. BTW, next weekend, two ladies from Texas I met on my Alaskan trip will be stopping by my house to say hi… How cool is that… Oh, huge temperature difference upon your return. Much Love Sista!!!

Hello,
Your blog is incredibly inspirational! I am applying to teach english in Kazakhstan next year, and the grant program encourages us to create a side project – either in community service or some sort of cultural exchange. Kazakhstan is also a country where human trafficking is a huge issue, which I’m sure you know! I have never done any kind of martial arts before, but my first judo class is tomorrow. I want your advice – do you think it is realistic for me to be planning on doing the same kind of thing you are doing? Is a year enough time for me to be good enough in order to teach other young women? Thanks so much for your help in advance, and thank you even more for what you’re doing – you’re truly amazing!! 🙂
